I don't remember where I found that journal, but I'm trying to write really small so that the pages never run out. It's a cover filled with validations to soak in every day. Lead by Example. Trust your Gut. Say What you Feel!.
So crazy what could get in the way of progress. Such grandiose time lines, and sometimes there is just no way to get around the nail jutting out from between the studs that requires the metal cutter that requires another You Tube video to learn how to use it. Breathe. breathe.
Yes! I DID have to go.
Let go of the negative self talk. Anyone that doubts what you can do, what you can accomplish. Leave them behind. Then deal with yourself alone. Talk out loud, Loudly. Swear if that's your thing - get it out. Commit to your mission. Wield the hammer! Just remember: wear the safety glasses. No injuries.
That means in AND out and then do it again slowly. I had to relearn this as a workaholic, Type A who began to "attack" this project like IT (Information Technology) work projects from the past. Working all night, late, late into the cold winter snowy sleeting - you get the picture. Anyhow, I would look around me at others ending their build day promptly at 5:30 PM and marvel. "But, they're NOT DONE!" my head would scream. Where are they going? No. Stop. Focus. This is Fun. Your life is your own. It's always been your own, but now it's Really your own.
This could be a long term build commitment. Not like on HGTV! Few finish in a weekend without a team of 20. Figure out your healthy mind (meditate?), body (exercise?) and spirit (slow down, look around, get aware) routines so that YOU (just you) can go at whatever new tasks arise with a smile.
Do these things sound too obvious? This build site was doing fine before I got here. Have fun with what you're doing, then inevitably - get off track in your head, pull yourself back around and remember that you do your best when you're aware, clear, focused and enjoying yourself. Especially when power tools, long, high ladders, heavy equipment and heavy materials are now part of your life. Stay focused. This is a pretty incredible commitment that you've taken on. You're building yourself a house for GOSH SAKE!! HOW FREAKIN' COOL IS THAT!!!
